I opened the box to these journaling Bibles and was surprised at how big they are! I was expecting that they would be around the size of the ESV Scripture Journals on the individual books of the Bible that I have used. But these are full-page, standard paper size journals. They feel like one of those full spiral bound notebooks for taking notes at school. There are five of these journals in the set. You can buy the entire set or the journals individually. The five journals in the set are: Pentateuch; Historical Books; Poetry; Prophets; and New Testament.

The covers are each a different color so you can tell them apart. The covers are also very hard and sturdy. The wire of the spiral is also very sturdy. The paper inside is cream colored and pleasant on the eyes. There is a full space in-between the lines of the Bible text and generous space in the margins. This layout makes it ideal for writing a lot of notes, circling, and underlining the text. This layout is a dream for people like me who like to write in the Bible and who enjoy marking up the text with colors and symbols.

You can also fold the cover and each page all the way around upon itself so that the Bible lays flat. This feature is super nice for taking notes while still having the Bible open on your lap. This resource is also ideal for writing out prayers based on Scripture. These spiral-bound journaling Bibles can also be used to write out the main points and notes from a sermon straight next to the Bible passage. This, then, becomes a resource to gather sermon notes into one place throughout a sermon series right in the Bible! I am thinking about using these five journals during my next read through the Bible in my devotions. It might take me a couple years, but there is more than enough space for my notes and prayers. Excellent resource here from Crossway!
